Is it time to finally install some new siding to your home?
Perhaps there’s a glaring problem, such as moisture or termite damage, that’s beyond repair. Or perhaps you’re planning to sell your house and you’re looking to increase its value. Or you may just simply desire to enhance your home’s curb appeal.

Before you call up your local roofing and siding contractor, you may want to consider the time of year. Believe it or not, some seasons and times are better than others for siding installation.
Which season is best for siding installation?
Siding installation in the summer can prove to be a bummer. New siding won’t fare well in the heat, because then the siding will start to stretch and expand. Plastic will also begin to melt in high temperatures.

Siding installation won’t fare well in the winter either, because cold weather causes panels to contract. As a result, the vinyl may crack and break. Any outdoor temperature below 50 degrees Fahrenheit is not advisable for siding installation, not just because of the aforementioned reasons regarding material, but it won’t be safe for people to work in.
So now you may think spring is the happy medium, because it’s not too hot or too cold. Although you may want to think again, as spring is most known for its rainstorms. Moisture can be dangerous to siding as it can reveal your sheets or walls, exposing them to damage.
Why Fall is the Best Time to Get New Siding
While most homeowners get new siding in the spring or summer, fall is the best time to install your new siding. Aside from process of elimination, a few reasons include:
A more open schedule - Spring and summer are often the busiest times of the year for roofing and siding contractors. Fall will come with more availability to schedule your siding installation.
Get the job done quicker - Since it will be easier to schedule your siding installation, siding professionals will get the job done quicker.
Better prices - When demand is high, as the case with roofing and siding companies in the spring and summer, prices are high too. Waiting for a slower season can come with more affordable, or even discounted, rates.
Prepare for the winter season - Getting new siding installed in the fall will prepare you for the cold weather to come. This includes sealing gaps of old siding to prevent cold air, and adding house wrap for heat retention/moisture prevention.
Improved Efficiency - It’s a simple equation: Drop in heating bills + brand new insulation = improved efficiency!
